“I HAD TO PUT HER DOWN BECAUSE SHE WASN’T COOPERATING WITH ME” were the words the mother of a 14-year-old girl heard from a Poplar Bluff Police officer when he was explaining why her daughter had an open gash on her forehead.
Being “put down” is the language we use when talking about rabid animals, not children. That is how the police see us, as animals. If you are Black or poor, you are treated as less than human. If you are Black AND poor, may God have mercy on you because the police and sheriff won’t.
How much longer can we endure this? If you are as fed up as we are, join us and fight back!
